Where should i propose for my girlfriend?
i know its been a long time since i used this, but i value all your opinions. i got her dream ring. our 1 year anniversary is january 4th. and i need to know how and when i should propose. i need proposal ideas. and nothing crazy like a sporting event, nothing corny. i want a personal unique proposal. nothing too fancy or too shabby. suggestions please?

Well it is still winter, so if you are planning on proposing on your 1 year anniversary, then it does narrow down the venues slightly. The first thing you need to do is decide whether you want it to be an intimate proposal, or a more public proposal. Personally I think private is best, because then the other person is not put on the spot and embarrassed, and they feel comfortable to show their true emotions.
The most important thing is that it be unexpected. It is not so much where or when, but how you ask. We don’t just like the ring to be taken out and a……”will you marry” me to follow it. Have a short, memorable paragraph at least to go with it. Include why she is the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with. If you do it on your one year, she won’t suspect that you are doing something special with her, because she will think it is for the anniversary, so I do think that is a good time. Now as far as the place……hmmm.
Take her for a nice romantic dinner (but don’t do it at dinner, that’s embarrassing), and it’s best to do it near the end of the evening, so even if she thought you might, she will be thinking by then that she was wrong. Do you have horse-drawn buggy rentals there? That would be very romantic if that was waiting outside the restaurant for the two of you. Near the end of the ride you could just turn to her unexpectedly and ask her. That would be romantic. If that is not a possibility, then even driving somewhere romantic and going for a walk would do. Somewhere with a view over looking the city.
