How long do i have to wait for him?!?
I have been with my boyfriend for 6 years and all i have ever got out of it is a promise ring… No, i’m def. not saying that i HAVE TO GET MARRIED right away, that’s not the case. It’s just that, he knows i want to, but he makes up excuses why we shouldn’t. The least he could do was get the ring, right? He won’t do that either, saying ‘his money isn’t right’. He has plenty of money, take it from me. And he always looks for cars to buy, talking my ear off about them. I didn’t mind that for a while until i realized something; he has the money for a car, but not a $1000 engagement ring?
What does this mean? We love each other, i don’t doubt that. He buys me other things (they aren’t expensive like a ring, but come on! He does it all the time!) I am very thankful to have him, he is so good to me. But does he feel the same? Is he afraid of the commitment, and if so…why? Do you think he could be cheating? :[
He’s probably getting all the same things that he would from you if you were his wife, without having to take that final step, so why would he bother? I once read an article that a man wrote to his daughters, and it said that very thing. “Don’t expect a man to want to marry you if you already give him all the benefits of marriage without him having to give you the honor.” I’m not talking about sex, I’m talking about living together, doing his laundry, cooking his food…etc etc…you probably do all that for him and more.
After six years you should be able to talk honestly and frankly. Tell him you want to get married, that you’ve invested six years in this relationship, and if he does not see marriage in your future then he needs to tell you now so you won’t waste any more of your time.
